Vaccine Description


It is a live virus vaccine given in two doses in routine schedule at 12 months and 18 months. Completion of vaccination is checked prior to school entry at age 4-6 years. The efficacy of the vaccine might reach ≥ 95% after the 2nd dose. MMR vaccine is also indicated for susceptible adolescent and adults without documented evidence of immunity and non-immune women tested during premarital or after delivery for those non immune discovered during antenatal screening and to healthcare workers at risk. Non-immune women who received MMR vaccine should use contraception for at least 4 weeks from vaccination. The most common adverse reaction following MMR vaccination include fever and transient rash that might appears in about 2% of vaccine recipents. There is no convincing evidence to date that the vaccine causes autism.
