(Lignocaine hydrochloride) Indications: surface anesthesia of urethra during catheterization cystoscopy; may be used on oral mucosa to relieve pain in connection with dentistry. Lidocaine (lignocaine) gel is a useful topical application in urethral pain or to relieve the discomfort of catheterisation. Dose: for anesthesia of the urethra, in men, 10ml followed by further 10ml (total up to 40ml for cystoscopy); in women, 5-10ml. Endoscopy, 10-20ml. Endotracheal intubation, 5ml applied to surface of tube. |
