Indications: constipation, bowel evacuation before radiological procedures, endoscopy, surgery. Acts within 2-8 hours. Contra-indications: intestinal obstruction. Precautions: pregnancy, menstruation, undiagnosed abdominal pain. Side Effects: nausea, vomiting, abdominal colic, severe purgative. Dose: 5-20 ml when required. Child up to 1 year, 1-5 ml; 1-12 years, 5-15 ml in milk or fruit juice before breakfast or on an empty stomach. |
