Pharmacy

The pharmacy department in the health centers one of the important departments because of their role in providing medicines to the customers and to the internal sections in the center, where they provide different types of drugs according to the different diseases served by a group of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and assistants their number reach more than 170 employee distributed in different centers According to the population density of each center. Pharmacy services began in the health centers with the opening of the first health center in 1977 and continue to date. Pharmacies have been increasing with the opening of every health center to reach the number of 27 pharmacies currently.


Working time:

Pharmacy section available in all health centers without exception. Each department works according to the timing of each center. Muharraq Health Center, Hamad Kano Health Center and Yousef Engineer Health Centers are continuously operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week and the rest of the centers according to the working time of each center.


Section Services
  • Dispensing medicines to the customers.
  • Preparing and supplying medicines for internal sections such as nursing department, MCH...etc.
  • Providing vaccinations for school and other campaigns.
  • Provide pharmaceutical instructions, advice and guidance to customers.
  • Community services such as education and participation in events.

The most important functions of Pharmacy Department in health centers:
  1. Provide services to customers in the working hours of health centers and all essential medicines in addition to specialized clinics and review the list of medicines from time to time to update and modify them in line with the developments of the times.
  2. Provide diabetes clinic medicines in all health centers since 2006 to relieve the burden of patients instead of referring them to the Salmaniya medical complex and facilitate them to access the necessary treatment without incurring any additional trouble.
  3. Provision of medicines for chronic diseases in all health centers, including medicines for hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol and others.
  4. Providing medicines to the psychiatric clinic in seven centers since 2009, where doctors from the psychiatric hospital will see the patients in health centers to facilitate and take into account this category of patients and provide medication in the same center to alleviate any difficulties that may be faced by the patient to reach his medicine.
  5. The provision of drugs for smoking cessation clinics in 4 health centers, patients from all other health centers will be referred and provided with the appropriate treatment within the plan set by the doctor.
  6. harmacies of the health centers contribute to relieving the pressure on the Salmaniya medical complex, King Hamad Hospital and the Psychiatry Hospital by refilling the monthly prescription of chronic diseases, for more patients compliance instead of carrying the hardship to go to those hospitals which are usually crowded with patients and more time flexibility because of the opening of centers for longer periods.
