Minor Surgical Procedures
During Primary Care consultations, there is a number of health problems that require surgical procedures for treatment and diagnosis. For this reason, most of the health center physicians are trained to perform minor surgical procedures in all of the health centers in the kingdom of Bahrain for both quality and safety professional practices.
Training family physicians on minor procedures will reduce cost and reduce waiting time and load on secondary care. Minor surgery is defined as the surgical procedures of short duration that usually require the application of local anesthesia and carries low and minimal risk of complication.
Those procedures include wound suturing, Circumcision, calluses and corn excision, cyst excision, in growing toe nail, removal of skin tag, and IUCD insertion.
