Tips during Ramadan:

  • Drink plenty of fluids during the Iftar period, especially water (8-10 cups per day).
  • Avoid soft drinks and sugary drinks and reduce the amount of  caffeinated drinks, such as tea and coffee
  • Eat water-rich foods, such as fruits and vegetables like watermelon and cucumbers.
  • Avoid eating salty foods and avoid foods rich in sugars to reduce thirst.
  • Eat in moderation and reduce fatty foods and sweets in order to avoid weight gain. The Holy month of Ramadan is an excellent opportunity to reach a healthy weight if you eat healthy food.
  • Eat slowly and chew food well, to avoid indigestion and to feel full without eating large quantities and stop eating as soon as you feel full.
  • Meals in Ramadan can be divided into an iftar meal, a suhoor meal, and a light meal in between.
  • Suhoor is a very important meal because it reduces thirst and hunger.
  • Ensure that Suhoor contains complex carbohydrates that produce energy slowly such as bread made from whole grains and foods rich in protein such as dairy or eggs, as well as foods rich in water such as fruits and vegetables and avoid foods that are fatty, salty, or full of sugars.
