Indications: active rheumatoid arthritis (including Still's disease), systemic and discoid lupus erythematosus. Cautions: hepatic impairment, renal impairment, regular ophthalmological examinations are recommended; pregnancy, breast-feeding; neurological disorders; psoriasis; porphyria. Contra-indications: psoriatic arthritis; concurrent use of hepatotoxic drugs. Side Effects: gastro-intestinal disturbances, headache, and skin reactions; ECG changes, convulsions and visual changes; blood disorders, mental changes, myopathy; Stevens- Johnson Syndrome. Dose: administered on expert advice, initially 400mg daily in divided doses. Maintenance, 200-400mg daily; max. 6.5mg/kg daily (but not exceeding 400mg daily). Child, up to 6.5mg/kg daily (dosage form not suitable for children under 3 years of age). |
