It is an antimuscarinic (anticholinergic) drug Indications: bradycardia after myocardial infarction particularly if complicated by hypotension; bradycardia caused by beta-adrenoceptor blocking drugs. (Also used as a preanaesthetic medication, and an antidote for organophosphate poisoning).

Cautions: glaucoma, paralytic ileus, enlarged prostate.

Dose: by intravenous injection, 0.3-1 mg repeated if the initial dose is ineffective. Max. 3mg in 24 hours.
