Indications: Treating acid indigestion, heartburn, and constipation. Contra-indications: acute gastro-intestinal conditions. Precautions: Use with caution in patients with severe renal impairment, hepatic impairment, elderly and hypermagnesaemia. Side effect: diarrhea, hypermagnesaemia, colic, hypotension and muscle weakness. Drug Interactions: This medicine can interfere with the absorption of other medicines from the gut if they are taken at the same time. To avoid this, any other medicines should be taken at least 2-3 hours before taking magnesium hydroxide. Dose: Adult: 30-60 ml/day or in divided doses. 6-12 years: 15-30 ml/day or in divided doses. 2-5 years: 5-15 ml/day or in divided doses.. |
