Indications: parkinsonisim but not drug-induced extrapyramidal effects. Cautions: pulmonary disease, peptic ulcer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, skin melanoma, open-angle glaucoma, asthma, renal and hepatic impairment. Contra-indications: concomitant MAOI therapy; narrow angle glaucoma. Side Effects: dyskinesia, muscle twitching and blepharospasm; mental changes. Dose: expressed as levodopa, initially, 100 mg 3 times increased by 50-100 mg daily or on alternate days according to response up to 800 mg daily in divided doses |
