Indications: status epilepticus, convulsions due to poisoning. Caution, Contra-indications: & Side Effects: see under drugs used as hypnotics & sedatives. Dose: Slow IV injection, adults and children, 10-20 mg at a rate of 0.5 ml (2.5 mg) per 30 seconds, repeated if necessary after 30-60 minutes; may be followed by slow infusion to a max. of 3 mg/kg over 24 hours. Child, 200- 300 mcg/kg or 1 mg/year of age. |
