Indications: mild to moderate pain, pyrexia in children, menorrhagia. Cautions: exclude pathological conditions before treating menorrhagia; breast-feeding; porphyria. Contra-indications: inflammatory bowel disease. Side Effects: drowsiness; diarrhoea or rashes (withdraw treatment); thrombocytopenia, haemolytic anaemia (positive Coombs' test), and aplastic anaemia reported; convulsions in overdosage. Dose: 500 mg 3 times daily after food. Child over 6 months, 25 mg/kg daily in divided doses for not more than 7 days, except in juvenile chronic arthritis (Still's disease). |
