This is a tricyclic antidepressant. Indications: depressive illness; phobia and obsession; adjunct drug in cataplexy associated with narcolepsy. Cautions & Contra-indications: see under Amitriptyline Hydrochloride Side Effects: see under Amitriptyline Hydrochloride; also diarrhoea; hair loss reported. Dose: by mouth, initially 10 mg daily, increased gradually as necessary to 30-150 mg or more in severe depression and in phobic and obsessional states, in divided doses or as single dose at bedtime. Elderly patients, 10 mg daily increased to 30-75 mg. |
