Indication: An anti-muscarinic bronchodilator used in reversible airways obstruction, particularly in chronic bronchitis. Ipratropium bromide is used intranasally for the treatment of rhinorrhoea in allergic and non-allergic rhinitis. It has also relieved rhinorrhoea and sneezing associated with the common cold. Cautions: glaucoma (standard doses are unlikely to be harmful); prostatic hypertrophy. First inhalation dose should be given under medical supervision. Side Effects: dry mouth occasionally reported; rarely urinary retention, constipation. Dose: by inhalation of nebulized solution, 100-500 mcg up to 4 times daily. Child 1 month-3 years, 62.5-250 meg up to 3 times daily. 3-14 years, 100-500 meg up to 3 times daily. |
