is a mental disorder , where one feels sad , hopeless, indifference , loss of interest in life , change in apetite , disturbed sleep , guilt m and wishes of death

They include feeling several of the following for at least 6 weeks:

• Feeling sad, anxious, or empty
• Feeling hopeless or pessimistic
• Feeling guilty, worthless, or helpless
• Not enjoying things you used to enjoy
• Trouble with concentration, memory, or making decisions
• Sleeping too much or too little
• Appetite changes
• Gaining or loosing weight
• Feeling restless or irritable
• Thoughts of suicide or death

may include psychological intervention , pharmacological , or a combination of both

- physical activity and exercise.
- Stay away from alcohol.
- Maintain a supportive social network of friends and family, especially in times of crisis.
- learn  about the signs and symptoms of depression especially if you are a vulnerable group.
- Try and reduce pressure

- Decline in the quality of life of the affected person .
- Incidence of anxiety disorder .
- Problems at school or university or work .
- Family problems between couples .
- Social isolation .
- Self-harm, as the person  deliberately injure himself  .
- Early death from other diseases .
- Drug addiction or alcohol .
- Suicide .

- Stressful events  , such as the death of a relative, financial problems .
- Genetic factors
- Some acute or chronic diseases: tumors, heart disease .
- Some medicin
