Description |
HIV is a virus that attacks the immune system cells responsible for defending the body against different types of infections and certain types of cancer. Therefore the body loses its ability to resist infectious germs and cancers, and this is called HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) or a shortcut to a ( HIV ) |
Causes |
Viruses are transmitted mainly through semen and vaginal fluids during sexual intercourse without the use of condoms. In addition to intercourse, the infection can be transmitted through involvement of injections of contaminated needles with infected blood; through transfusion of the infected blood or its derivatives, and transmission from the infected mother to her child immediately before, during and after birth. |
Symptoms |
The symptoms of HIV infection vary in the early stage. Although people who have been living with the virus tend to have been infected over the past few months, many of them only know their condition at a later stage. |
Treatments |
There are a number of drugs used to treat infections associated with AIDS. These drugs are also working to prevent the multiplication of the virus, but they do not cure AIDS or AIDS infection. These drugs delay the onset of symptoms of AIDS and death. |
