Description

Measles is a highly contagious viral disease caused by the measles virus may lead to serious complications .

Causes

Measles is transmitted through the respiratory tract of an infected person infected by droplets during coughing or sneezing or direct contact with the secretions of the nose and throat .

Symptoms

Symptoms typically begin 10–14 days after exposure

symptoms include a four-day fever (the 4 D's) and the three C's—cough , coryza (head cold, fever, sneezing), and conjuctivitis  (red eyes)—along with a rash

fever seen with measles is often as high as 40 °C

Koplik spots are small white spots that are commonly seen on the inside of the cheeks opposite the molars

Treatments

there is no particular anti virus for measels , but the treatment depends on  medications aimed at treating superinfections, maintaining good hydration with adequate fluids, and pain relief.

Prevention

immune mothers pass the immunirt to thier newborn , but eventaully the antibodies will be lost in the first 9 months

thats why babies are given thier fors MMR vaccine at the age of one year old
