Minister of Health inaugurates MOH activities for Sports Day 2019

Following the directives of His Royal Highness the Prime minister, Prince  Khalifa Bin Salman AlKhalifa, and responding the call of His Highness  Shaikh Nasser Bin Hamad AlKhalifa, Representative of His Majest the king for Charity works and Youth and sport affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, H.E Minister of Health, Faiqa Saeed AlSaleh inaugurated activities of MOH for Sports Day on Sunday, 12th Feb 2019. As the ministry prepared a full program for MOH’s staff to celebrate sports day in the Ministry’s main building located in Juffair.

AlSaleh also praised the directives of HRH Prince Khalifa Bin Salman to set a National Sports day for the kingdom in Bahrain, and allocate half a day for physical practice, which aims at creating athletic and energetic society.

The kingdom of Bahrain represented by MOH is keen on supporting the strategies of WHO towards physical inactivity control, and establishing healthy cities. Said her excellency minister of health.

Sports Day activities included; Honoring prize winners of athletic championships, heating exercises& Walkathon, various medical checkups and physical activities such as; table tennis, shooting, Taekwondo and physical contests using balls hoops.

Health centers organized various activities for their staff such as; walkathon, physical activities and educational presentations about physical practice in addition to measurement of height, weight and BMI.  While SMC hosted physical trainers, male and female, to perform physical activities with the staff such as; air exercises, Walkathon around the complex with trainers, as they organized a sports exhibition and sports contests.

Many patients and visitors of health centers participated in Bahrain Sports Day by practicing physical activities that fit their  health condition, while  patients who do psychotherapy practiced physical activities and exercises that help un their therapy and rehabilitation.

It is worth mentioning that studies indicate that activity and practice are ingredients for a happy and healthy life, as regular physical practice reduce the risk of heart disease, Cancer and Diabetes, keeps cholesterol and blood pressure normal and prevent from Osteoporosis, helps maintain a healthy weight, boosts positive energy and morale and strengthen memory.
