According to the decisions issued in this regard, the Ministry of Education sends lists of qualifications that do not meet the requirements to the Training Affairs of the Ministry of Health, which in turn addresses the Arabian Gulf University to conduct an assessment exam for students. The successful candidate qualifies to join the year of internship, and the frailer enters a training program for one or two years, according to the final grades. -

According to the decisions issued in this regard, the Ministry of Education sends a list of the dentistry qualifications that do not meet the requirements to the Training Affairs of the Ministry of Health, and since the Kingdom of Bahrain does not have dental universities, the Ministry of Health addresses Ajman Medical College in UAE to hold an assessment exam for students. It is a set of clinical, laboratory, and radiological tests conducted for expatriates coming to work or already working in the Kingdom of Bahrain. This examination is a mandatory procedure required to obtain a work permit, ensuring that expatriates are free from infectious diseases. -

To ensure that the expatriate is free from infectious diseases that could pose a health risk to citizens and residents in the Kingdom of Bahrain. -
Q: What are the components of the medical examination?
• Comprehensive clinical examination. • Chest X-ray examination. • Blood tests, including screening for HIV, Hepatitis B & C, and Syphilis bacterium. • Stool examination for specific categories. • Tuberculosis (TB) screening for certain groups. -
Q: How are private healthcare institutions selected to perform this service?

It is possible to reschedule the appointment or change the healthcare institution through the National Portal. However, please note that changing the healthcare institution is allowed only once. -

• The expatriate’s identity is verified before proceeding with the examination. • The examination fee is paid directly to the licensed healthcare institution. • The medical examination (laboratory, radiological, and clinical tests) is conducted according to the approved regulations of the Ministry of Health. -

Q: Who is eligible for treatment abroad?
Bahraini citizens or those with equivalent status may be sent abroad for treatment or treated in non-governmental hospitals within the Kingdom if the necessary treatment is unavailable in public healthcare facilities. -

The consulting physician submits a detailed medical report on the patient's condition to the Supreme Committee for Treatment Abroad. This report must include all necessary pathological, laboratory, and radiological reports as required by the patient’s medical condition. The application form must be completed by the physician, signed by two consultants from the same specialty, and endorsed by the department head or an authorized representative. -
Q: Can a request for treatment abroad be approved?
The Supreme Committee for Treatment Abroad reviews all submitted requests. The committee may approve sending the patient abroad if the required treatment is unavailable in Bahrain. If treatment is available locally, the request may be denied or referred to the relevant authority for further review. Approved cases are sent to the hospitals and medical centers designated and accredited by the committee. -

Q: How many companions are allowed with the patient?
Each patient traveling abroad at the expense of the Kingdom is entitled to one companion, except in the following cases: • Pediatric patients (under 18 years old) may be accompanied by both parents. If one parent is unable to travel, the child’s legal guardian may designate another suitable person as the second companion. If multiple patients from the same family are traveling, a third companion may be added, designated by the legal guardian. • Patients undergoing organ transplants may be accompanied by the donor at the Kingdom's expense, in addition to the primary companion. The donor is entitled to the same travel and financial benefits as the patient and may also have one companion with full entitlements. -

The companion must be a first-degree or second-degree relative of the patient. -
