She highlighted the Kingdom’s commitment to benefiting from global experiences and expertise to reinforce concepts of quality, governance, and to achieve sustainable health goals for all.
Her Excellency noted that the Kingdom’s achievements in various health indicators — including reducing communicable disease rates and enhancing universal health coverage — are the result of national strategies guided by the ambitious vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, may God protect him, the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, and the close follow-up of the Supreme Council of Health chaired by Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, in addition to fruitful partnerships with international organizations.
This came during Her Excellency’s meeting with Dr. Hanan Hassan Balkhy, WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, in the presence of Ministry of Health officials, as part of Dr. Balkhy’s visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Her Excellency explained that the meeting was an important opportunity to review the latest developments in Bahrain’s health sector, particularly regarding the activation of preventive programs, the expansion of community health initiatives, and the development of national health policies in line with best international practices.
For her part, Dr. Balkhy praised Bahrain’s tangible health achievements and pioneering practices, reflecting the Kingdom’s progress in public health, prevention, preparedness, and epidemic response. She stressed WHO’s keenness to continue supporting Bahrain’s efforts by enhancing technical cooperation and exchanging expertise to strengthen the resilience and sustainability of the health system.
The meeting also reviewed the progress achieved in national health programs, notable national experiences in combating communicable and noncommunicable diseases, efforts to promote healthy lifestyles, and the development of rapid response programs for health emergencies.
Furthermore, the discussions addressed ways to deepen cooperation in health preparedness and to continue joint work to update national plans for addressing current and future health challenges, in line with the overall framework for achieving regional and global health security.
