Ministry of Health Holds Discussion Session to Improve Nutrition Quality in School Canteens

The Ministry of Health organized a discussion session titled “Towards Better School Nutrition,” attended by Dr. Samia Ali Bahram, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health, along with representatives from private schools and the Private Education Directorate at the Ministry of Education, as well as several private school contractors.
Dr. Buthaina Ajlan, Head of the Nutrition Department at the Ministry of Health, emphasized that the session aims to raise awareness about the importance of healthy nutrition within the school environment. This initiative is part of the joint efforts between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education to promote public health.
She noted that the Ministry is implementing a series of initiatives to improve the nutritional quality of food in both public and private school canteens. These include the issuance and annual update of a nutritional requirements guide for school canteens, as well as encouraging the enhancement of food quality to comply with approved health standards.
