Minister of Health Leads Bahrain Delegation at Abu Dhabi Global Healthcare Week 2025

Her Excellency Dr. Jaleela bint Al-Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health, emphasized the importance of enhancing regional and international cooperation in the fields of healthcare and medical innovation. She noted that the rapidly evolving global health challenges require the adoption of flexible and sustainable models, based on knowledge exchange and strengthened partnerships, to ensure more efficient and responsive healthcare systems that achieve health security for communities and improve individuals’ quality of life.
This came during her leadership of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s delegation participating in the opening session of the Abu Dhabi Global Healthcare Week 2025. The event is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. Taking place from April 15 to 17, 2025, the event is themed “Towards a Long, Healthy Life: Reimagining Healthcare and Quality of Life”, and is considered one of the leading global platforms for showcasing experiences, exchanging expertise, and envisioning the future of the healthcare sector.
On the sidelines of the event, Her Excellency participated in a panel discussion titled “Exploring the Potential of Targeted Therapies,” during which she outlined Bahrain’s national vision for developing its healthcare sector. She affirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to investing in digital transformation, expanding preventive health services, and nurturing national talents, all of which contribute to building a comprehensive and integrated healthcare system.
She reiterated the importance of enhancing regional and international collaboration in healthcare and medical innovation, emphasizing that the accelerating health challenges require adopting flexible, sustainable working models based on knowledge-sharing and partnership-building. This approach ensures more effective and responsive healthcare systems, achieving community health security and improving individuals’ quality of life.
Her Excellency highlighted the global success story of treating the first patient with sickle cell anemia outside the United States using CRISPR gene-editing bone marrow transplantation technology. She affirmed Bahrain’s determined strides toward becoming a global leader in precision medicine and innovative health solutions through strategic investments in infrastructure and the development of advanced medical facilities utilizing the latest effective technologies. This has positioned Bahrain as a center for adopting innovative therapies in genomic medicine, significantly improving the quality of life for patients with genetic disorders.
She also noted that in May 2024, the Bahrain Oncology Center received VERTEX accreditation as a recognized center for bone marrow transplantation and cellular therapy services. This followed a comprehensive evaluation and inspection process, confirming the center’s compliance with all essential international standards for facilities specializing in stem cell collection, transport, and transplantation.
