The Ministry of Health organized a celebration on the occasion of World Health Day 2025 under the theme “A Healthy Start for a Promising Future.” The event was attended by His Excellency Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health; Her Excellency Dr. Jalila bint Al-Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health; a number of senior health officials; medical and healthcare professionals; as well as representatives from health institutions and concerned entities.
In her speech during the ceremony, the Minister of Health emphasized that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, places human health at the top of its priorities. She noted that health is a cornerstone for achieving sustainable development and the well-being of society. She highlighted that family health—particularly maternal and child health—is a fundamental part of the national health strategy, which aims to provide comprehensive healthcare from the early stages of life to ensure a healthy and sustainable future for upcoming generations.
Her Excellency pointed out that the health sector, under the oversight of the Supreme Council of Health, continues to make dedicated efforts to provide an integrated health environment. This includes preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, and rehabilitative care, the development of health systems, enhancement of public health, and ensuring access to high-quality health services for all members of society. She emphasized that maternal and child health is a crucial investment in building a strong and sustainable society. Therefore, Bahrain has adopted a comprehensive and integrated approach that begins with premarital screening and extends to prenatal and postnatal care, awareness of periodic checkups for children, breastfeeding, proper nutrition, and vaccinations.
The Minister also noted that Bahrain is working to enhance innovation in healthcare service delivery, investing in digital solutions and modern technologies to improve the quality, sustainability, and efficiency of healthcare services. She stated: “The theme of this year’s World Health Day reflects Bahrain’s vision that a healthy start is the foundation for a prosperous future. This drives us to enhance health awareness and ensure that every individual receives the care they deserve from birth through all life stages.” She affirmed Bahrain’s commitment to supporting family health by providing high-quality services and fostering community partnerships and cooperation with national and international institutions to build a healthy and prosperous society in line with global healthcare standards.
The event featured a short video presentation highlighting the health services provided by the Kingdom of Bahrain to every family member—especially mothers and children—as well as key achievements in this area. The ceremony also showcased updates on the national immunization programs, with a special focus on vaccinations for pregnant women and children, which play a vital role in ensuring a healthy start for every child in the Kingdom. The celebration included the launch of accompanying awareness and educational activities aimed at promoting the importance of early prevention and healthcare, and strengthening sound health practices across different segments of society.
