Dr. Lulwa Rashid Showaiter, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, participated in the 100th meeting of the Executive Board of the Health Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, held at the Council’s headquarters in Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Undersecretary affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s keenness to continue supporting the system of joint Gulf cooperation and to actively contribute to shaping health policies by promoting integration and cooperation to more comprehensive levels, as well as exchanging expertise and successful experiences with fellow GCC countries. These efforts aim to enhance health security across the region and achieve sustainable health.
The meeting discussed several key topics aimed at enhancing coordination and unifying Gulf health initiatives. These included reviewing the performance report for the first quarter of 2025 and discussing the draft update of the Unified Gulf Health Strategy for the 2026–2030 period, in alignment with regional and global health developments, and contributing to the development of joint health policies and programs.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of continuing support for initiatives focused on prevention, awareness, development, and health support—efforts that strengthen the capacity of health systems in GCC countries to overcome global health challenges and uphold the principles of comprehensive public health and regional integration.
