Minister of Health Chairs the Kingdom of Bahrain's Delegation at the 9th Ministerial Meeting on Food Safety in Kuwait

H.E. Dr. Jaleela bint Al-Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health, chaired the Kingdom of Bahrain's delegation participating in the 9th Ministerial Meeting of the Food Safety Ministerial Committee, organized by the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in the sisterly State of Kuwait on Thursday.
H.E. emphasized that this meeting reflects the joint efforts aimed at strengthening cooperation between the GCC countries in the development of systems and procedures related to food safety. She highlighted the importance of exchanging expertise and information among member states, enhancing joint preventive and regulatory measures, which would contribute to improving the quality and safety of food for consumers across the GCC countries.
The ministerial meeting discussed several vital topics on the agenda, including the "Unified Food System" law for GCC countries, the Gulf guide for controlling imported foods, and the establishment of the Gulf Center for Food Risk Assessment. Additionally, the meeting addressed emerging foods and the mechanism for imposing and lifting bans on the import of animal-origin foods and their products. The meeting also reviewed the Food Safety Policy Document for GCC countries and followed up on decisions issued by the Preparatory Committee and the Ministerial Committee on Food Safety during the 8th meeting held in 2024.
This meeting represents an important step in the journey of joint GCC cooperation, as member states strive to enhance food security and ensure the highest safety standards for food products in the region.
