Health Ministry participates in WHO meeting

Health Ministry has participated virtually in the World Health Organization (WHO) meeting for the Eastern Mediterranean Region, to launch the regional report on health-related sustainable development goals and objectives.

Public Health Director Dr. Najat Abul-Fath praised the role of the Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean in transforming challenges into opportunities to redirect the path to achieving the sustainable development goals related to health and the 2030 Agenda.

Dr. Najat reviewed the steps taken by Bahrain towards achieving the sustainable development goals, to be in line with what was stated in the national development agenda and with the sustainable development goals since 2000.
She said that the Kingdom has used various methodologies to achieve these goals and follow up on their implementation and continuity, and launched high level programs.

The public health director pointed out that the health sector in Bahrain has witnessed a great development, represented in the provision of comprehensive and integrated health care, preventive and curative, and the level of health awareness has been raised and equity has been achieved in the distribution of health services in quantity and quality to everyone in the Kingdom in line with the objectives and implementation of the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin  Isa Al Khalifa, to move forward in raising the quality of health services in accordance with standards of justice, sustainability and competitiveness.

She revealed the low prevalence of infection with HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, and hepatitis C, in general, in Bahrain, due to the increased community awareness regarding prevention and early detection of cases.
