Health Minister chairs GCC meeting
Health Minister Faeqa bint Saeed Al Saleh chaired virtually the fifth meeting of the Committee of Ministers Concerned with Food Safety in the GCC.
GCC Secretary General Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al Hajraf, was present.
The minister said that these meetings enhance the continuation of the path of cooperation, discussion and consensus on the most important developments, topics and projects related to food safety and public health.
She expressed her hope to modernize the system of legislation, regulations and measures and unify procedures and policies in the GCC, to embody the concept of partnership.
The program of the fifth extraordinary meeting included a number of topics, during which they reviewed the update of the Gulf Manual and the Control of Imported Food, the Unified Food Law (Nedham) of the GCC, the Strategic Plan of the Gulf Committee for Food Safety 2021-2025, and the mechanism for imposing and lifting the ban on importing foods of origin animal products in the GCC for the Arab countries, in addition to the proposal to establish a Gulf Center for Food Safety and Risk Assessment.
