Health Minister congratulates WHO Director General

Health Minister Faeqa bint Saeed Al Saleh has congratulated World Health Organization Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on the success of the seventy-fourth session of the World Health Assembly, held in Geneva on May 24-31.
 
Al Saleh expressed her pride in the WHO director general's closing remarks in which he reminded delegates that the theme of the assembly was “Ending this pandemic, preventing the next: building together a healthier, safer and fairer world”.
 
She lauded the resolve to strengthen both WHO and global health security and the recommendation for a treaty on pandemic preparedness and response.
 
The minister commended Dr. Tedros' tireless endeavors and the WHO teams to make the 74th session a success, despite the difficult conditions sweeping the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and their great efforts to ensure the participation of all members in this event and the adoption of numerous reports, resolutions and recommendations.
 
Al Saleh praised the active role of the organization and its support of all member states to continue joint efforts to overcome the pandemic.
 
The minister paid tribute to all front line workers across the world and their noble roles in providing various services to confront the virus.
During the assembly, member states agreed on a resolution reaffirming WHO’s role as the directing and coordinating authority in health during emergencies and beyond.
