HM King calls for solidarity and unity to overcome the global pandemic

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has expressed condolences for all COVID-19 victims, and their families. HM also expressed his wish for a full and rapid recovery for all those receiving treatment.
 
Following the statement issued by the Government Executive Committee in its meeting today, HM the King called for solidarity and unity during the next phase of tackling the virus. HM the King reassured citizens and residents that Bahrain, with the commitment of all in the Kingdom would overcome the global pandemic.
 
HM the King commended the efforts of Team Bahrain led by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to combat the repercussions of the global pandemic and achieve safety and security for all.
 
HM the King also praised the tremendous efforts of all medical and administrative staff’s mitigation efforts to protect society.
 
The Deputy Prime Minister, HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, today chaired a meeting of the Government Executive Committee, held remotely.
 
HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak emphasised that the success of the next phase of tackling the virus required everyone’s renewed commitment to following all the precautionary measures aimed at combating COVID-19.
 
HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak highlighted that the health and safety of all citizens and residents remained the Government’s top priority, in line with HM the King’s vision and objectives. He noted the importance of continuing to ensure the readiness of all agencies in safeguarding public health in accordance with directives from HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
 
HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak noted that there was no room for complacency and urged all citizens and residents to register and get their vaccine, or a booster shot if needed to ensure the health of all. 
 
Following consideration of a report submitted by the National Medical Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus (COVID-19), headed by HE Lieutenant-General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, the following was decided:
 
 1. To expand the capacity of daily vaccinations
2. To increase the use of rapid COVID-19 tests as a tool to identify existing cases
3. Update precautionary protocols for existing cases and those in contact with active cases
4. Closure all non-essential sectors and activities starting from 23:59 on Thursday, 27 May, 2021 to 23:59 on Thursday, 10 June, 2021, as follows:
 
 • Closure of all non-essential commercial activities
• The prohibition of sports activities
• In-person learning to be halted across schools, educational and training institutions
 
• Public sector to allow 70% of employees to work remotely
• Prohibition of private gatherings
 
With the continuation of work in essential sectors.
