Immunisation Group chief urges vaccination against COVID-19

the vaccines being administered in Bahrain against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have all shown their efficiency, said Dr. Basma Al Saffar, Public Health Consultant and Head of Immunization Group.Cat the Ministry of Health.

The Kingdom of Bahrain has so far approved five COVID-10 vaccines - Sinopharm, Pfizer-BioNTech, Oxford-AstraZeneca (Covishield) and Sputnik V.

She stressed the importance of getting vaccinated to acquire community immunity which contributes to reducing the rates of infection transmission and thus eliminating the virus.   

“The overall effectiveness of vaccinations is high and contributes to  relieving symptoms when infected with the virus”, she said, adding that shots reduce the rate of transmitting the virus to others compared to those who are not vaccinated.

She urged people to choose the available vaccine instead of waiting   until the vaccination is available from a specific company, stressing the importance of accelerating the process of herd immunity, which is the basis for the success of the national vaccination campaign.
