Minister of Health, Faeqa bint Said Al-Saleh, today inaugurated the multi-storey car park at the Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC).

The state-of-the-art parking facility was developed by the Bahrain Real Estate Investment Company (Edamah), the real-estate arm of Bahrain’s sovereign wealth fund, Mumtalakat.

Board of Trustees Chairman of Government Hospitals, Shaikh Hesham bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Edamah Chief Executive, Ameen Al-Arrayed, and the project’s officials attended the opening ceremony.

The minister said that the building will support the vital medical services delivered by SMC, through providing the staff, patients and visitors with spacious and modern parking facility with air-conditioned lobbies and glazed sliding doors for ease of movement.

She said that the new facility will meet the needs of all patients and visitors for more parking spaces, as well as improve the quality of the services provided by SMC for the citizens and residents.

The minister lauded the fruitful cooperation with Edamah, praising the company’s accuracy, efficiency and success in completing the project according to schedule, noting that the project reflects the success of the government’s plans and visions in improving the health services.

Edamah CEO said that the completion of the project reflects the success of the company’s investment and development strategies, noting that the implementation of the project is another milestone for Edamah as a strategic investor and developer in the kingdom’s infrastructure.

He added that the construction works of the project had been completed by the end of last month and was opened in August, as planned, despite the challenges faced by the world, including Bahrain.

He expressed pride in the community-centred project that reflects Edamah’s commitment to delivering well-developed infrastructure.

Offering 600 car parking spaces built over an area of 7,410 square metres, the parking facility will meet the increasing demands for more parking lots at SMC, improve the flow of traffic, and provide quick access to emergency centres.

It also includes several service facilities that will serve SMC’s staff, patients and visitors.
