Bahrain participates in Gulf Health Council meeting
The strategic plan, the Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control (GCDC) project, the research unit, the visions of the technical committees and the most important achievements and challenges have topped the agenda of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Health Council meeting.
Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health at the Ministry of Health and member of the Executive Board of the Gulf Health Council Dr. Mariam Al Hajri represented Bahrain at the virtual meeting.
Other topics included unified purchase, the central medical registration, the Gulf registration of veterinary preparations, the control of communicable diseases, as well as nutrition and micronutrients.
The meeting also addressed noncommunicable diseases, primary health care, health systems and policies, patient safety, health research, organ transplant and transplantation, as well as financial, administrative and organizational matters and the council's statute regulations.
The council’s recommendations will be referred to the upcoming GCC health ministers ’meeting.
The members agreed to hold their virtual meeting monthly in light of the pandemic through video link instead of the regular two meetings annually.
