Ministry of Health: 241 of travel-related COVID-19 cases came from Iran, 112 from other countries
The Ministry of Health has recorded that, of the 353 Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases with a history of travel to countries with high infection rates, 68% were detected among travellers returning from Iran.
To date, a total of 241 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been detected among travellers returning from Iran, followed by 57 travellers returning from the United Kingdom, 12 travellers returning from Egypt, eight returnees from Iraq and 27 travellers from other countries with high infection rates.
Bahrain, with its high recovery rate, is being recognised as a model for mitigating the spread of COVID-19. To date, the Kingdom has recorded 337 recoveries, far exceeding total active cases.
The Ministry of Health is committed to maintaining total transparency of reporting and care, and publishes regular, up to date, and in-depth public health information covering all active cases and their contacts. The Ministry asks that citizens and residents refrain from sharing public health information from unofficial sources.
The ministry is enacting strict preventative measures to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, including testing all arriving passengers to determine whether they require treatment or quarantine, in accordance with recommendations outlined by the World Health Organization.
