Minister of Health receives the Sickle Cell Anemia Specialist Prof. Alexander Kumar

H.E Minister of Health, Faiqa Saeed AlSaleh meets with the specialist in Sickle Cell Anemia, Prof. Alexander Kumar, who was invited to Bahrain by Bahrain Society for Sickle Cell Anemia Patients to view patients experience with this disease and the treatment they receive. The meeting was held with the presence of Assistant Undersecretary of Hospital, Dr. Mohammed Amin AlAwadhi.   

At the onset of the meeting, her excellency welcomed the British expert and wished him luck and success in his visit to Bahrain.

Following the directives of HRH the Prime minister, Prince Khalifa Bin Salman AlKhalifa, the ministry of health in the kingdom of Bahrain pays a great attention to Sickle Cell Anemia patients, and is very keen on providing them with the best health services to sooth their and calm them down, as it follows up with this disease through a qualified medical team in Genetic Blood Disease. Said her excellency minister of health.

About the development of health services provided to SCA patients, Assistant Undersecretary of Hospitals, Dr. Mohamed Amin AlAwadhi stated  that MOH regularly receives SCA experts and specialists to brief them about health services provided to patients and get their suggestions and evaluations, which contribute to enhancing the quality of these services, in addition to that they review therapeutic plans set for SCA patients and conduct visits to all SCA units, as they give lectures about SCA to the medical and nursing staff.

AlAwadi also pointed that there is a multi-specialists clinic for SCA patients, the purpose of which is detect complications that may incur of this disease at an early stage and try to prevent them.

For his part, Chairman of Bahrain Society for SCA patients, Mr. Zakariya Khadim praised MOH for the distinguished services it provides to SCA patients and emphasized on the importance of  collaboration between the community and MOH to develop health services provided to SCA patients.

At the end of the meeting, the British Pro. Alexander Kumar extended his sincere thanks to H.E the minister for the valuable information he obtained through his visit to Bahrain, as he praised the quality of health services provided to SCA patients in the kingdom, which emulate services available at the best therapeutic centers around the world.
