Dr. Manal Al-Alawi, Assistant Undersecretary of Primary care participated in the 4th meeting of WHO Collaborating Centers in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, which was held in Muscat, Oman from 9-10 Jan 2019 under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Bin Mohammed Bin Obaid Al-Suaidi, the Omani Minster of Health. The meeting was attended by H.E Dr. Ahmed bin Salem Al-Mandhari, Regional Director of WHO, Eastern Mediterranean Region and H.E Dr. AkgimalMagtimova, representative of Oman for WHO.
The aim of this meeting was to review rules and policies regarding the designation and re-appointment of collaborating centers and examine the suitability of the work of these centers for the WHO action program. It also discussed the results of survey conducted by these collaborating canters and agreed upon needed procedures to deal with the loops identified. The meeting aimed also at addressing the challenges facing the centers regarding the execution of activities planned in collaboration with the WHO and direct the centers in what concerns WHO’s priorities in the region.
The preparation of future action program for the collaborating centers with the WHO has been also reviewed during the sessions of this meeting.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Abdulhalim Lutf Allah, Dean of Medical school at Arabian Gulf University ( AGU ) and Mrs. Seddiqa Ali Abbas, Acting chief of Nursing department at College of Health Sciences.
