Al-Jalahma participate in the meeting of World Health Organization specialists in Geneva

Assistant undersecretary of primary care and public health doctor Mariam Al-Jalahma participated in the meeting of the higher technical committee for World Health Organization specialists for the year 2014 and that is in the period between 19th till 23rd of March 2014.
This committee consists of a group of specialists from different countries in the world that are chosen based on their experiences with direct contract with World Health Organization in Geneva. The higher committee is responsible of reviewing the strategy of the administration of motherhood, childhood and teenagers health care that belongs to the organization as it reviews what the administration accomplished in the last year and how it corresponds with the countries' needs. The committee also surveys the future plans that the administration put in the priorities of researches, policies and surveillance and putting the health guidelines and indicators that the organization will follow in the future.
It also surveys applying the programs in some of the region's countries and how successful it is and the possibility of generalizing it on the rest of the countries to achieve the aims of decreasing deaths of mothers, children and teenagers especially if the causes can be prevented. The higher committee of specialist consists of about 20 people that are chosen based on their practical experiences and membership requires independency and that the specialist is not connected to foundations that have aims that contradicts the organization's aims and has no interest with drugs companies or other things that might affect the credibility of their opinions. The committee raises their recommendations annually to the general director of the organization.
