The ministry of health organized in cooperation with Indra Company and BMJ on "Monday" the 24th of March 2014 a celebration to re-evaluate the level of applying the electronic medical library for the best global medical practices of the British Medical Journal within the national system of health data (I-Seha) after applying it for about 6 months within the electronic medical file for the secondary health care in Salmaniya Medical Complex and the primary health care in the health centers and also in King Hamad University Hospital. The ceremony was held under the sponsorship of her Excellency, the undersecretary of the ministry of health Dr. Aysha Mubarak Bu Anq with the attendance her Excellency, the assistant undersecretary of training and planning Dr. Hala Ebrahim Al-Mahz'a and representatives of King Hamad university hospital and some senior officials in the ministry of health in Abdulaziz Hall in princess Al-Jowhra center for molecular medicine and genetic sciences and hereditary diseases. At the beginning of the ceremony, her Excellency, the undersecretary of the ministry of health Dr. Aysha Mubarak Bu Anq praised in her opening speech the success of the experience and the success of the strategic partnership with the British Medical Journal indicating that we in the ministry of health and King Hamad University Hospital were able to make an achievement to be added to the national project of health data as a national project that was applied since September 2012 as applying the BMJ contributed in upgrading the work inside the governmental health institutions using this system and that is regarding the presence of a tool that supports the diagnostic and therapeutic decisions for the patients. Her Excellency, Dr. Aysha Mubarak Bu Anq added that the medical staffs in both hospitals and health centers of the ministry of health or in King Hamad University Hospital worked daily on using this application since October 2013 and depending on it in supporting their diagnostic work daily through computers that are specified for the use of the national system of health data. Evidence-based support was offered to the doctors in evaluating their patients' conditions and taking the diagnostic and therapeutic decisions regarding their patients confirming that these medical staffs and through their use of this application contributed in achieving the optimum use of this application and what this site offers which contains more than 4000 guidelines about diseases and their diagnosis and plans and ways of their treatments. It also contains links to certified medical references that are supported with more than 3000 explanatory medical pictures that are now available for medical staffs to use in diagnosing their patients and treating them. At the end of her speech, the undersecretary of the ministry of health thanked specially the medical staff for their continuous work and efforts in serving their patients and expressed her certainty that using the best medical practices of the British Medical Journal (BMJ best practices) within the national system of health data contributed in raising the quality of diagnosis and treatment for the medical staffs and enable them to obtain practical experiences that upgrade the medical work for the better, this reflected positively on developing the competence and performance of health services in the kingdom of Bahrain. From her side, her Excellency, the undersecretary of training and planning Dr. Hala Ebrahim Al-Mahz'a recited a speech in which she mentioned deeper details in which she specified the essence of the medical therapy that is based on evidence and what it provided to both medical staffs and patients equally, pointing out that this project contributed in a huge qualitative jump for the health care in the kingdom of Bahrain, that is why there was an invitation to all whom have a role in developing health care in the kingdom of Bahrain whether in governmental or private health institutions and also the medical universities to see this successful experience. Dr. Al-Muhz'a also pointed out that there was certification of implying application of this tool resembled in the best global medical practices within the project of the national system of health data since signing the project contract in 2011 which opened new horizons for those working in the health field and also for the patients to improve the health care and raise its quality and providing it with the best ways available globally by the cooperation between the ministry of health and King Hamad University Hospital and Indra Company that is the company responsible of applying the national system of health data in the kingdom of Bahrain. She continued: "Today, we all became close to see all the benefits expected from applying the electronic medical library of the best global medical practices in (I-Seha) system that are considered to be products of global experiences based on the newest evidences and instructions and opinions of experienced people in the medical field that were put in the hands of the medical staffs in the kingdom of Bahrain that use (I-Seha) system. Al-Muhz'a stated that the national system of health data works with the presence of a tool or applications that supports the diagnostic decisions of patients that is evidence-based as it is directly provided for the medical staffs who use (I-Seha) system and that is because they use this national system. Dr. Mohammed Al-Suwaidi, the president of team/committee of applying the electronic medical file in the secondary health care declared that BMJ website is always and continuously update the medical information as long as there is a technique of notifying the medical staffs of any update whether when they enter the website itself or through e-mail messages to notify them about the latest updates specially in ways and plans of treatment. Dr. Al-Suwaidi also clafified that the information in the website is based on systematic medical references of the best global medical experiences that depend on combining the best evidences that are based on certified medical practices that are supported by special medical experiences and also supported by the newest evidences and medical guidelines regarding diagnosis and treatment of diseases, emphasizing on that this application helped the medical staffs in following and using a system with global standards in the ways and plans of treatment which will lead to raising the quality of diagnosis and treatment and decreasing the medical hazards. At the end, Dr. Suwaidi confirmed that this application is part of the national system of health data that was found to facilitate work and provide all requirements that contribute in the quality of the process of diagnosing and treating diseases and that is to develop the quality and performance of the health services provided by the ministry of health and King Hamad University Hospital for the interest of the patients at the first place as this system is being applied in cooperation with Indra Company which is the company in charge of applying the national system of health data in the hospitals and health centers that belong to the ministry of health and King Hamad University Hospital.
