His Excellency the Minister of Health Mr. Sadiq bin Abdul Karim Al-Shihabi received in his office at the Ministry, on "Monday," March 10, 2014 the Deputy Ali SHAMTOOT, the head of the ‏Bahrain Society for S.C.D Patients Care to discuss the conditions of S.C.D patients, their treatment protocol, and the challenges facing the transfer of Alscalr patients from the Salmaniya complex to the new genetic blood diseases medical center. At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency the Minister of Health welcomed his attendees and praised their efforts in improving the health services provided to Alscalr patients, affirming his support and the willing of the ministry to assist them and his willingness to provide the best care and treatment for the patients with inherited blood disorder in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The attendees expressed their sincere appreciation to His Excellency the Minister of Health for his cooperation with the council of Representatives and the ‏Bahrain Society for S.C.D Patients Care and his prompt response and aid. Both parties discussed various issues starting by allocating two beds in the intensive care unit for S.C.D patients with critical conditions, unless in case of intensive critical cases such as traffic accidents. The Minister of Health ensured that the directives of the Prime Minister are clear about taking good care of all patients especially S.C.D patients who require special care. As well as providing them with special attention and prompt service. The minister stated that the ministry is seeking to review and modify the protocol, in addition to searching for new medicine alternatives that will be more suitable with fewer side effects on S.C.D patients. Regarding the transfer of S.C.D patients to the new center of genetic blood diseases, said the President of the S.C.D Association that it requires a great deal of patients awareness as they need to apply what's in their best interest which will be by following the general directions set by Al Salmaniya complex and going over the regulations and the guidelines presented by the hospital. At the end of the meeting, the Minister of health ensured the importance and the big role of the deputy Ali SHAMTOOT and the ‏Bahrain Society for S.C.D Patients Care, wishing them success with their journey with S.C.D patients and the best for the kingdom of Bahrain. The Deputy Ali Shamtoot along with the head of Bahrain Society for S.C.D Patients care Mr. Zakaria al-Kazim and the society members expressed their sincere appreciation to His Excellency the Minister of Health for taking care of the S.C.D patients' case and for upgrading their health services. The Meeting was attended by the Assistant Undersecretary for hospitals Dr. Amin Al Saati, Assistant Undersecretary for Primary Care and Public Health Dr Mariam Al Jalahma, Consultant Hematologist at Salmaniya Medical Complex Dr Mohammed Nafi, Mr. Ibrahim Alnoakhaddh, Professor David the foreign expert in the hereditary blood disease center, Director of the Office of the Minister of Health, Ms. Radinah Buhindi, The head of Public and Int. relations directorate Ms. Aneesa Alhowaihi, the Deputy Ali Shamtoot , the head of the Bahrain Society for S.C.D patients Mr. Zakaria al-Kazim, the Vice President of the society Mr. Issa Khalil, the society secretary Manahel Mansour and a member of the General Board of the society Mr. Mohammed Musa.
