The medical staff for a multi-specialists clinic views the results of study conducted on SCA patients for the first time

The management of SMC opened a clinic specialized for SCA patients, and that is to develop the health services provided to this category of patients. In this regard, Mrs. Hayam Saeed Ali, coordinator SCA patient’s health care at nursing section in SMC noted that MOH has managed through this clinic to conduct a survey on the results of studies made on this disease. Mrs. Hayam pointed out that percentage of male patients visiting the clinic is more than female’s as it is goes up to 75%, while female percentage is only 28%. The results indicates also that the age group of the majority of patients is between 30-49 years. She noted also that 46% of these patients have acquired the disease from their parents who hold the disease. Mrs. Hayam cleared also that around 63% of patients visiting the clinic were transferred to SMC . Mrs. Hayam noted also that around 40% of SCA patients are school and university students and they lead lifestyles that cause them more complications. The aim of announcing the results of this study is to draw patient’s towards their case and the necessity of maintaining a healthy life style to prevent any complications occurring from the disease, as the study indicates that 37% of these patients drink little amounts of water and smoke, adding to that they don’t do any physical activity in their daily routine. At the end, Mrs. Hayam pointed out that the number of SCA patients visiting the clinic is on the increase.
