His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa yesterday visited Yousuf Abdulrahman Engineer Health Centre, Isa Town.
He confirmed the government's interest in going ahead with efforts to provide the most developed and sustainable health services by building projects that boost this sector to make them accessible for all citizens.
"The government welcomes the initiatives of the private sector to set up health centres and establishments out of its belief in the importance of social partnership in enhancing national progress," he said.
He hailed the role played by Yousuf Abdulrahman Engineer's sons who contributed to the building of the health centre, commending their charitable projects that reflected the solidarity between members of the one-family Bahraini society, as well as the patriotic role played by the private sector in supporting the government's development policies.
The Premier underlined that the health sector tops the agenda of the government to provide quality health services that appeal to citizens and meet their expectations.
"Bahrain is proud of its people and its need for the contributions and efforts of all its citizens," he said, noting that "Bahrainis, men and women, have proved their loyalty to the homeland through sincere and dedicated work for the sake of its progress and prosperity and the health centre is just one proof of this."
The Prime Minister added that the "therapeutic and protective services provided in the kingdom match those in the most developed countries in terms of quality thanks to the commendable efforts of highly qualified Bahraini medical cadres."
The Premier was briefed by Health Minister Sadiq Al Shehabi and health centre officials on the services it will provide and mechanisms to receive patients.
The Premier instructed the Health Ministry and other departments concerned to provide the centre with all the assistance to ensure that it is opened as soon as possible.
The new health facility, due to be open 24 hours a day, will serve the citizens and expatriates in Isa Town and reduce pressure on Salmaniya Medical Complex.
The BD6 million health centre will serve about 35,000 people from 26 neighbourhoods.
