Mr. Khalid Al Jalahma, Health Information Directorate’s director, has stated that in the context of the joint effort between the Ministry of Health and Indra, the administrative and clinical staff working at BBK Hidd Health Center have been prepared and trained on the use of the National Health Information System. The system’s services that are being launched at the first phase of the implementation at this health center include: Scheduling & Appointments, Radiology, Laboratory, Pharmacy, and Requests & Referrals. The Electronic Health Record for Primary Healthcare will be included as part of the patient's electronic record in the national project. Training of BBK Hidd Health Center staff has taken place during the last two weeks and will continue for the next week. The training sessions were held in two training rooms located at BBK Hidd Health Center and Rufaedah building. This training is aiming to prepare the health center’s staff on the best ways to use the system efficiently and effectively. At this stage, medical records staff have been trained on the Scheduling & Appointments system, which includes different processes like booking new appointments or registering patients. Besides, medical staff have been trained on the Electronic Health Record for Primary Healthcare. This course explained all the functionalities available for physicians, as for example how to perform electronic requests and referrals for laboratory and radiology. Moreover, all nursing staff including triage, treatment room and clinical nurses have been trained on the part of the Electronic Health Record related to nursing. All nursing care and therapeutic doses received by the patient can be recorded electronically. Pharmacy, radiology and laboratory staff have been trained as well in the systems related to each department. These integrated systems are aimed to provide quality and continuity in healthcare, and to register all the information necessary for clinical and administrative purposes. I-Seha's change management team had set up a training plan for BBK Hidd Health Center’s staff. This plan included the staff working on both morning and evening shifts. The number of trainees has been of around 100, including administrative and medical staff. Approximately 30 doctors have been trained on the Electronic Health Record. The training sessions were managed and coordinated collaboratively by Indra and representatives of the Ministry of Health. A specialized team from Indra performed the training sessions and provided all the required technical and logistic support to maintain the success of the training process. BBK Hidd Health Center will be the pilot center in which the system will be launched, in this first phase of deployment of I-Seha, which is focused in Primary Healthcare. After this center, the system will be expanded to the rest of health centers in the Muharraq Governorate, followed by the ones of the rest of the country.
