"the Cochrane Collaboration symposium"
• This international healthcare conference, the Cochrane Collaboration symposium, held under the patronage of HH The Prime Minister Sheikh Khalifa on June 1st and 2nd 2009 in which the directors of the Cochrane Collaboration will participate and share their knowledge with their Bahraini medical colleagues, is an evidence for HH giving a great attention to most scientific events and Medical conference in particular held in the kingdom of Bahrain.
• The choice to held this forum at Bahrain Medical University add the academic atmosphere and will give a greater opportunity for medical students and Nurses of this university and other to learn about evidence based medicine.
• Ministry of Health took the initiative to held an exploratory meeting in 2005, were an invitation for the CIO of Cochrane Library with reviewers from different countries in Middle East came to discuss the idea and requirements to create a branch in the Arab World, followed in short period of creating a team from Bahraini consultants from different specialties , who prove they can do the expected functions of any branch or center in other part of the world, conducting several workshops and training activities, gaining the trust to organize this current forum.
• The National strategy 2030 calling and directing public and private organizations to attract reputable scientific organization in their local activities, so this forum is a real example of implementation of this strategy.
• The partnership between Ministry of Health through its Cochrane branch and Royal Medical Services and Bahrain Medical Bulletin and others in organizing such forum, it is ideal way of working together in coordination and with team spirit , focusing on a common purpose which is to improve the quality of Health care for our citizen.
• A word of thanks must be said to our leaders His Majesty the King and HH the Prime Minister and HH the Crown Prince for their continuous support, a special thanks to Bahrain Medical University for hosting the forum and all government, private organizations, sponsors and supporter of the forum activities like Gulf Air and British Medical Journal and the medical students volunteers in helping the organization committee and wish our guests a pleasant stay in Bahrain, the country with rich history and culture which could be seen through your social program.
