MEACO 2009

Under the patronage of His Highness Sh. Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa Prime Minster. The Middle East African Council of Ophthalmology (MEACO) and in collaboration with the Ministry of Health will conduct its 10th International Congress from 26-30 March 2009 in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It will be held at Bahrain international Exhibition Center and In collaboration with American Academy of ophthalmologist, International council of ophthalmology and Bahrain Ophthalmological association MEACO is one of the four supranational organizations of the International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO), the executive body of the International Federation of Ophthalmological Societies (IFOS). All national ophthalmic societies of the Middle East and African countries are members of MEACO, including Turkey and Iran, making MEACO the largest supranational organization in the world. We are honored to have HRH Amir AbdulAziz bin Ahmed bin AbdulAziz Al Saud to be the chairmen of MEACO. and Dr. Abdul Aziz Al Rajhi is the president of MEACO. The MEACO international congress, held every two years, it is the largest ophthalmic meeting of the region, and is the only meeting that is truly international MEACO is the only ophthalmic meeting in the region that attracts ophthalmologists, eye care professionals, and exhibiting companies from the region, as well as from Europe, Americas, South and Far East Asia and Australia. These distinguished leaders include the President of the International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO), the American Academy of the Ophthalmology (AAO), the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ESCRS), the International Society of Refractive Surgery and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB). American association for pediatric ophthalmology and Strabismus. and many other professional international ophthalmic associations and societies The scientific program is expected to have more than 400 speakers of which 90 international speakers and faculty from the top elite group of Ophthalmologists in the world; will be invited to share their experiences with our regional colleagues. The technical Exhibition will host more than 120 companies will be showcasing their latest products and services. With 2200 sq meters with an increase of 50% of the area in 2007 And we are expecting more than 2000 participants from all over the world. There will be a two Live surgery sessions with 2 hours period for each session in two days . where surgeries will be transmitted from Salmaniya Medical complex to the venue at Bahrain international Exhibition and Conference Center . The organizing committee is aware of the tremendous expectation it has to generate for the 2009 meeting and we are working to achieve these high expectations. The organizing committee realizes that active cooperation and involvement of the different organizations, agencies, and departments in Bahrain is very important for the success of this meeting.
