Chief of Medical Services highlights key considerations to mitigate spread of COVID-19
Chief of Medical Services at Salmaniya Medical Complex Dr. Nabeel Ahmed Al Asheeri has stressed the social and medical importance of adhering to the precautionary measures issued by the competent authorities to mitigate the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Dr. Al Asheeri, who is also a member of the National Medical Team to fight COVID-19, said that all community members should comply with the instructions that ban gatherings in order to avoid infection or transmission to contacts.
People should benefit from the telemedicine consultations, drug delivery and other services provided by the Ministry of Health to ensure the wellbeing and safety of patients and prevent the spread of the virus, he added.
Dr. Al Asheeri cautioned that several cases of COVID-19 are asymptomatic and contacts with them could put the health and safety of the community at risk.
Full respect of the social distancing measures, wearing facemasks in public, washing hands regularly, not getting physically close to people with underlying conditions and stepping out only when necessary are also crucial preventive measures with which people should comply fully and with committed determination, he added.
Adhering to the official directives and not being complacent in implementing all the recommended instructions issued by the National Medical Team will lead to a reduction in the number of existing cases resulting from contacts, he said.
Succeeding in avoiding an increase in the number of cases in fact reflects the significance of social responsibility and the true commitment to the national duty of contributing to preserving the health of all people, Dr. Al Asheeri added.
