Health minister patronises COVID-19 genetics conference
A remote conference focusing on genetic studies related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) was held today under the patronage of Health Minister Faeqa bint Said Al-Saleh.
The ministry held the virtual conference in cooperation with the British Embassy in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the British Network for Research and Creativity.
The conference builds on Bahrain's efforts to combat the pandemic and encourage Bahrain-based researchers and doctors specializing in the study of genetics related to the virus.
The session outlined Bahrain’s achievements to control the virus, along with research conducted on the prevalent strains of Covid 19 in the Kingdom to learn more about the mutations of the virus and correlation with the disease severity, speed of transmission and infection at the local level.
UK Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain Rody Drummond, hailed bilateral relations binding the two countries, specially in the health field and other key areas.
Health Ministry Undersecretary Dr. Waleed bin Khalifa Al-Manea highlighted Bahrain’s strenuous efforts to combat COVID-19, stressing the importance of benefiting from advanced research related to the study of genetics associated with pandemic.
