Health Minister pays field visits to COVID-19 testing, isolation and treatment centres

Health Minister, Faeqa bint Said Al-Saleh, today paid inspection visits to a number of COVID-19 testing, treatment and isolation centres, marking Eid Al-Adha.
 
The minister was informed about the workflow and the quality of services delivered at those facilities, as part of the national efforts to combat the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
 
Al-Saleh expressed sincere congratulations to all medical, nursing and administrative teams who are carrying out their duties on the frontlines of the fight against COVID-19 to the fullest, lauding their dedication and the sacrifices they are making in order to protect the safety and health of the citizens and residents, which, she said, has contributed to making Bahrain’s experience in combating the pandemic a role model to be emulated.
 
The minister praised the constant support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and extended thanks and appreciation to His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, for their unwavering follow-up on the efforts exerted by the Team Bahrain to defeat the pandemic.
 
The minister visited the Coronavirus Unified Call Centre (444), which was inaugurated in February 2020 to provide support for all cases, including those in precautionary quarantine, as well as respond to people’s queries about COVID-19.
 
She also inspected the integrated COVID-19 testing centre at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre, which conducts tests for those coming from abroad, contacts of active cases and suspected COVID-19 patients.
 
On arrival, Al-Saleh was welcomed by Public Health Director at the Ministry of Health, Dr, Najat Abu Al-Fateh, who informed her about the centre and its duties.
 
The state-of-the-art medical facility includes 400 beds, 1,000 waiting seats, three clinics, 12 treatment beds and a pharmacy. It also includes 42 COVID-19 sampling stations, and 16 others for asymptomatic cases.
 
The minister also visited the Bahrain International Hospital, which is run by the National Medical Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and the Royal Medical Services. She was welcomed by the infectious diseases consultant at the Salmaniya Medical Complex and National Medical Taskforce member, Dr. Jameela Al-Salman, who informed her about the facility which provides healthcare for active cases.
 
The minister also visited the Shamel Field Hospital, where she was welcomed by its official, Dr. Raja Alyusuf, who briefed her about the facility in charge of implementing the home self-isolation for active cases according to a set of criteria.
 
Concluding her field visits, the minister stressed that Bahrain had succeeded in combating the pandemic thanks to its well-thought-out preemptive plans and measures, as well as the solidarity and cohesion of the Bahraini society.
