Finance Minister and GCC counterparts discuss COVID-19 economic impact
Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa and his GCC counterparts took part today in a video conference which discussed unified efforts to tackle the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
The GCC ministers discussed their countries’ precautionary measures to prevent an outbreak of coronavirus as well as financial requirements to combat COVID-19 and mitigate its economic toll.
They also highlighted GCC member states’ efforts to deal with the challenges facing them to achieve financial sustainability, in light of current situation, and ensure the normal flow of basic commodities for citizens.
The minister spotlighted economic and financial repercussions, stressing the continuous flow of trade exchanges between member countries through the border exits, as well as means of stimulating the economic activities, which were affected due to precautionary measures, and maintaining financial stability.
