Confirming the precautionary measures and the strict precautionary measures .. Al-Qahtani: The national team to address the Corona virus continues to continue its efforts to ensure the health and safety of all
Lt. Col. Dr. Manaf Al Qahtani, Infectious Diseases Consultant & Microbiologist at the BDF Hospital and Member of the National Taskforce for Combating Coronavirus (COVID-19), noted that the Kingdom’s preventive measures, which began before the identification of the first domestic case, are ensuring the continued safety and well-being of citizens and residents alike.
To ensure the risk of infection remains low, Dr. Manaf confirmed that Bahrain will continue its epidemiological monitoring at entry points, particularly at Bahrain International Airport, enacting strict screening procedures for all incoming passengers, with particular attention placed on those returning from Iran or other countries with high infection
Dr. Manaf then highlighted the ongoing efforts of the National Medical Team to Prevent Coronavirus (COVID-19), headed by Lt.-Gen Dr. Shaikh Mohamed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, which assures that all preventive measure are in line with the World Health Organization (WHO)’s recommendations.
Dr. Manaf added that these preventive measures include:
· Establishing an operations room to closely monitor COVID-19 development
· Introducing a comprehensive communication manual
· Increasing public awareness through outreach programmes
· Upskilling healthcare workers to better manage crises
· Introducing a COVID-19 hotline (available 444)
· Launching an electronic registration service to schedule medical examinations for returnees from Iran
Dr. Manaf concluded by highlighting the progress made by the mobile testing process, instructing all who have tested negative to follow health guidelines and self-isolate for 14 days, for which they will receive paid medical leave.
