HRH the Crown Prince receives the Speaker of the Council of Representatives and the Shura Council Chairman
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander, and First Deputy Prime Minister, today received HE Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal, Council of Representatives Speaker, and HE Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Shura Council Chairman, at HRH’s majlis at Gudaibiya Palace.
HRH the Crown Prince highlighted the successful and ongoing collaboration between the Executive and Legislative Authorities, noting this partnership continues to deliver on the aspirations of the Kingdom’s citizens, under the leadership of HM King Hamad.
HRH the Crown Prince pointed to the recently announced positive preliminary fiscal results for the year 2019, and praised the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and Fiscal Balance and the Ministry of Finance and National Economy for their important roles in implementing the initiatives of the Fiscal Balance Program.
HRH the Crown Prince also noted the importance of redoubling efforts to increase the contribution of non-oil revenue to the economy and reduce expenditure, underscoring the need for integrated efforts between the Executive and Legislative Authorities in this regard.
HRH the Crown Prince added that providing extensive opportunities for citizens in tandem with economic growth is a central component of the Kingdom’s comprehensive development plans, and noted that citizens will always remain at the heart of all development efforts.
Turning to the precautionary measures taken in light of the recent coronavirus outbreak, HRH underlined the swift efforts taken by the Supreme Council of Health and the Ministry of Health to ensure efficient preventative measures are implemented, as well as their cooperation with major centres for disease control and international organisations.
For their part, the Council of Representatives Speaker and the Shura Council Chairman expressed their gratitude to HRH the Crown Prince for his support for enhancing cooperation between the Executive and Legislative branches.
The meeting was also attended by HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, HE Jawad bin Salim Alarrayedh, Deputy Prime Minister, HE Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, HE Sameer Abdulla Nass, Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as a number of other senior officials.
